Love Your Local Market 2026 celebrates across the globe
PE
The campaign demonstrates once again the power of local markets to bring communities together, with celebrations taking place around the world.
Running since the month of May, this year’s campaign brought the messages “Proudly Local” and “Make it a Market Day” to life in towns, cities, villages and neighbourhoods, while strengthening the growing international LYLM movement.
An international celebration of markets
One of the highlights of LYLM 2026 was the international program organized in partnership with the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) and Groupe Géraud. In Paris, delegates from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America came together to celebrate the role markets play in food systems, local economies and community life. Participants visited the Rungis International Market, the world's largest wholesale food market, before discovering the retail markets of Asnières-sur-Seine. The program showcased how wholesale and retail markets work together to support food supply, local vitality, social interaction and cultural identity.
Markets united across continents
Beyond Europe, markets across the world joined the LYLM campaign. In the UK the campaign continue active with NABMA, the National Association of British Market Authorities. In Colombia, Centroabastos celebrated through Agroferia 2026, creating an immersive experience inspired by traditional markets and highlighting the connection between producers, traders and consumers. These initiatives reflected the spirit of LYLM: markets are not only places of commerce, but centres of culture, resilience, sustainability and human connection.
Celebrating markets everywhere
From trader spotlights and young trader events to food festivals, family activities, civic visits, market heritage, campaign branding, live music and community celebrations, Love Your Local Market 2026 has once again shown the extraordinary value of markets. The campaign brought together wholesale markets, historic market halls, traditional street markets, food halls, farmers markets, community markets and specialist events, celebrating the diversity of the sector and the people who bring markets to life every day.
