Production remains concentrated in La Libertad and Lambayeque.
By the end of week 34 of the 2025/26 season, Peru exported 48,023 tons of fresh blueberries, a 130% increase compared to the same period last year. This strong growth positions the country to surpass earlier forecasts and strengthen its role as the world’s leading blueberry exporter.
Export destinations are shifting. While the U.S. remains the top buyer with 35% of shipments, the biggest increases came from China (+219%) and Europe (+190%), which together now take nearly half of Peru’s exports. The U.K. also saw notable growth of +104%. This reflects a clear diversification strategy to reduce reliance on North America and expand into Asia and Europe, supported by improvements in logistics and post-harvest handling.
Production remains concentrated in La Libertad and Lambayeque, which together supplied over 75% of shipments. On the varietal side, Sekoya Pop leads with 23% of exports, followed by Biloxi, Rocío, and Ventura, showing Peru’s push to use varieties better suited to global demands.
Another highlight is the rapid rise of organic blueberries, which grew 152% year-on-year. This trend underlines Peru’s ability to meet the increasing demand for sustainable and certified premium fruit, reinforcing its competitive edge in international markets.
