China will be the giant of blueberry industry

China will soon become the largest producer and consumer of Blueberry  in the world.

The global industry representatives have agreed at the International Congress which is held in Qingdao, Shandong Province in eastern China. China will soon overtake the United States according to them.

In terms of production capacity, the United States and Chile continue to occupy the 1st and 2nd place, but the Chinese are rapidly growing areas. China already had 20 366 hectares in 2013 and production will increase in a few years.

Global consumption also continues to grow, the North American markets represent 80% of the world total, while Europe and Asia still have a huge growth potential. Thus, Chilean exports increased by +14% in the European market and +42% in Asian markets.
