Medellin, the city of eternal spring will be for the first time the headquarters of the world avocado congress
Medellin will be in charge of receiving the ninth edition of World Avocado Congress. The objective of this event is connecting the world of avocado in one place, through knowledge, experience and business. It will have more than 70 exhibitors and 3,500 attendees. The congress will be held next week from September 24 to 26 at the Plaza Mayor Convention Center.
“For being a tropical country, the availability of water, sunlight and other factors allow Colombia to produce the year long. The western region and Eje cafetero where belongs Antioquia, Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda, Valle del Cauca and Cauca, This cities have more areas planted with avocado, for that reason, Medellin will be the headquarters selected to receive the growers, experts and leaders of the avocado industry” said Tomás Ríos Múnera, Gerente General Agrilink.
As it is a historical event for the country's agriculture, Colombia hopes to overcome the previous versions of the congress, more than 145 innovative conferences proposed as the Avotours, Avotaste, Avolabs, Avosolutions and a robust academic agenda that covers three thematic axes; marketing and distribution, productivity and added value.
The event will feature workshops, scientific research presentations and promote innovative methods for specialized audiences under six thematic axes:
● Genetic resources and material development
● Production and productivity
● Health, nutrition and gastronomy
● Phytosanity, fruit quality
● Supply chain, marketing and industrialization.
