Objective : 250 000 tons exported
FJ
Guinea-Bissau is aiming this year to export 250,000 tons of cashews, after reaching 130,000 tons exported in 2013 and 140,000 tons in 2014.
The country expects this year to significantly increase the volumes produced and thus exports. Result of massive campaigns to encourage the production. Guinea- Bissau is the fifth largest cashew producer in the world after India, Ivory Coast , Vietnam and Brazil.
Exports target this year : 250,000 tons of cashew nuts. The government has set at 300 CFA francs ( 0.457347 euro ) the purchase price to the producer, against 250 CFA ( 0.381123 euro ) last year. This should encourage farmers to sell their produce on site, and limit thus " escape " nuts to Senegal where the price was more lucrative .
