This week the first shipment of avocado grown in the peninsular area of the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador, will arrive in Europe. This shipment has been exported by BDBlogic.
BDBlogic plans to export a total of 14 containers of Hass avocado. It is the first time when producers export the fruit from Santa Elena, so they have referred to national and foreign specialists who are knowledgeable about the export logistics and avocado production.
The first container of Hass avocado will arrive in Madrid between June 9 and 11, and will be distributed by different cities in Spain, such as Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastián and others, after passing the nationalization of the cargo.
According to Dávalos Barquet, General Manager of BDBlogic, the export of Hass avocado to the markets of Europe and the United States, is challenging for the peninsulares that have high competitiveness with productions from Mexico, Peru, Chile and others.
Santa Elena's produce has a high quality and complies with all traceability standards required by the market. Avocado production in the peninsula is carried out using the latest technology in drip irrigation, disease control and packaging.
Javier Dávalos expresses his optimism for the next 5 years. Although this is their first delivery to Europe, he is sure that the 14 planned containers will be exported. He reveals that they managed to make a strategic alliance with the importer who was satisfied with the quality of the export fruit.
