Hazelnuts, nectarines, plums and avocados offset weaker cherry revenues in early-season export data.
Chile’s exports reached a historic high in the first two months of 2026, with overseas sales climbing 11.4% year-on-year to US$19.763bn, according to the latest Monthly Trade Report from the Subsecretariat for International Economic Relations (SUBREI), based on Central Bank and customs data.
Total trade between January and February amounted to US$33.879bn, up 5.7% from the same period in 2025, marking the eighteenth consecutive month of growth.
The country’s fruit sector generated US$2.361bn in export revenue during the period, slightly below last year’s level with a decline of 12.2%, mainly due to lower returns from fresh cherry shipments. Gains in other products helped soften the drop, including stronger exports of hazelnuts, nectarines, plums and avocados.
Chile’s non-traditional exports exceeded US$9.417bn during the period, up 9.2% year-on-year and the strongest start to a year on record. Among the products contributing to this growth were fresh plums, hazelnuts, fertilisers and fresh avocados.
Traditional goods accounted for 52.3% of Chile’s exports during the period, while non-traditional products represented 47.7%.
