Avocado inspections and exports resume throughout Michoacán

US agricultural activities have resumed across all of Michoacán, including avocado inspection and export operations, following agreements between Mexican and US authorities and producers, Mexico’s Senasica reported.

The decision extends a restart that began on August 8 in Tancítaro, Tacámbaro and Uruapan, as well as the corridor connecting Morelia and Pátzcuaro. Operations can now continue across the entire state.

Mexico’s Agriculture Ministry said the move advances the normalization of the avocado export program and supports continuity in bilateral trade.

Senasica will maintain discussions with the US Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). The agencies will focus on ensuring that inspections at orchards and packing facilities can be carried out safely while maintaining phytosanitary controls for fruit destined for export.
