According to Potatoes USA, all types of potatoes (frozen, fresh, dehydrated, seed and potato chips -chips-) recorded an increase in value (Photo: potatoesusa.com).
In 2022, US potato exports recorded a variation of -4.2% in volume but +11% in value.
According to Potatoes USA, in 2022 potato exports reached a record turnover of 2.1 billion USD, or +11% compared to 2021. In volume, these exports recorded a variation of -4.2 % but remain higher than 2018 and 2020 (fresh weight equivalent).
All types of potatoes (frozen, fresh, dehydrated, seeds and potato chips -crisps-) recorded an increase in value which can also be explained by global price increases and inflation
.frozen potatoes: value increased by +13.8% reaching USD 1.34 billion, while volume varied by -2.5% compared to 2021. The main destinations were Japan, Mexico, South Korea and the Philippines.
.fresh potatoes: the value increased by +9% reaching 287 million USD, while the volume varied by -9.7%. The main destinations were Canada, Mexico (+10%), Japan and Taiwan
.dehydrated potatoes: the value increased by +1.1% reaching 217.6 million USD, while the volume varied by -3.2%. The main destinations were Canada, Mexico, Japan and the United Kingdom
.seeds and potato chips -crisps-: the value reached USD 16.3 million and the volume increased by +28.8% for seed potato exports; the value reached 211.6 million USD and the volume increased by +2.2% for chips.
