Needless to say, after defeating France on Tuesday, July 14, Spain will face Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final; Argentina, in turn, defeated England in last Wednesday’s semifinal.

1.3 million metric tons to England

If England had won Wednesday’s semifinal, it would have been just as significant, because the United Kingdom is the Spanish sector’s leading non-EU market—and the third-largest overall—to which we exported 1.3 million metric tons in 2025, worth 2,270 million euros.

€2.8 million to Argentina

Spanish fruit and vegetable trade with Argentina is very limited. Spanish exports of fresh fruits and vegetables to Argentina in 2025 totaled just 8.2 million euros, or 0.04% of the total, which amounted to 18,666 million euros. Spain’s top export to Argentina in 2025 was fruit classified under Chapter 0809, which includes apricots, cherries, peaches, and plums—that is, stone fruits—totaling 2.8 million euros. These were followed by citrus fruits, at 1.7 million euros. Spain’s imports of fresh fruits and vegetables totaled 99 million euros, representing 1.8% of the total, which stood at 5,477 million euros.
