Kenya's president, who is visiting Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation event, has signed an agreement with his Chinese counterpart to export Kenyan avocados to China. A lengthy approval process was needed to reach this agreement, which is expected to allow Kenyan avocado producers to export nearly 40% of their production to the Chinese market.
The signed deal will also open the Chinese market to more than a dozen other Kenyan agricultural products, such as mangos, green beans, peanuts, vegetables, aromatic herbs and macadamia nuts.
