South African apples have given the green light to enter the Chinese market.
SAAPPA (South African Apple and Pear Producers' Association) , announced that the export protocol to China was signed between the two countries.
This agreement recognizes a process that required eight years of work and which can enable strong growth for the whole sector. The first deliveries could start as early as January 2015 with the varieties "Royal Gala ", " Fuji " and " Granny Smith".
The volumes will be modest at first and then will increase rapidly , as with any new market. Especially since it will be normal apple exports season.
