Exports increased by 5% in 2016, exceeding € 12 million

Stability in exports of tomatoes and growth (+ 12%) in exports of peppers.
Excellent year for Spanish exports of fruit and vegetables, which surpassed for the first time by value the 12 million EUR, up by 5% from the previous year.
According to Ministry of Economy data processed by FEPEX, exports of Fruits & Vegetables 2016 totaled 12.486 million EUR and 12.5 million tonnes in volume. Therefore in relation to the previous year + 5% in value and -2% in volume.
Vegetable exports reached 5,206 million EUR with a volume of 5.2 million tonnes (+ 7.5% in value and + 2.4% in volume compared to 2015). In terms of value, exports of tomatoes remained stable, notably for bell peppers (+ 12%), lettuce (+ 4%), cucumbers (+ 15%) and cabbages (+ 7%).
Fruit exports totaled 7.279 million EUR, with a volume of 7.1 million tonnes (+ 3% in value and -5% in volume). Progression in value of blueberries (+ 23%), raspberries (+ 30%) and strawberries (+ 6%). Peaches also grew (+ 7%) while nectarines fell (-7.7%). Good progress also for melons (+ 13%) and watermelons (+ 11.5%).
