It was one of sine qua non conditions since January 25, 2010 for Turkish exports of tomatoes, peppers, courgettes and pears. The decision of the EU to cancel the requirement for tomatoes imported from Turkey will allow to Turkish exporters saving time and significant money. According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union of Exporters of Fruits and Vegetables of Antalya, this is a great victory for Turkish tomatoes, whose harmlessness is recognized and should result in an increase in the export of tomatoes to European countries.
One third of the 600 000 tons of Turkish tomatoes is exported in the countries of the European Union.
