India becomes No. 1 importer of US almonds

India is now the most important destination of American almonds.
During the 2015-16 season India was third behind China and Spain for imports of almonds from the United States, but for the period August 2016 / February 2017, The most important importer.
The regional director of ABC (Almond Board of California) told Indian media that the country was now the most important destination for American almonds. In 7 months India has already imported 120 million pounds (54,431,084 kgs) or a growth rate of about 59%.
ABC estimates that Indian demand will rise further and expects it to reach 166 million pounds of US almonds in this year or next.
