Gulf countries do not receive more fruit and vegetables from Egypt, main supplier of these countries.

The situation in Egypt has caused the shutdown of its exports, while the country is the main supplier of fruit and vegetables from the Gulf region.

Road traffic, air traffic and ports have stopped their activities for nearly a week.  Traders believe the price of fruit and vegetables will increase across the region.

January and February are the months of the season for strawberries and Egyptians oranges. Egypt produces and exports beans, lemons, onions, watermelons and other vegetables to the Gulf.

The situation in Egypt forces local businesses to find alternative sources of supply. For citrus, UAE's importers are turning to Turkey and Syria.
