The pomegranate and the quince in the limelight

In the ranking of Turkish fruits exported in February.
The export figures for February of 2013 published by the Union of Mediterranean exporters show that there has been a significant increase in exports of pomegranates and quinces. Almost doubling, with about 10,000 tons of pomegranates exported compared to 5,500 tonnes of the previous year for the same month, while exports of quinces have increased by 70%.
These are the two most exported Turkish fruits in February, apart from citrus. Also note the export of strawberries in sixth place, which have increased from 41 tons to 144 tons.
The main markets are Russia, followed by Ukraine, Iraq and Germany. Egypt, in fifth position, has tripled its imports of fruit in February.
