Major reorganization for The Greenery

The cooperative group The Greenery is restructured: reduction of the sites, reduction of staff.

A major reorganization is running for The Greenery. The plan should include hundreds of layoffs (some sources speak of at least one third of the 1,200 employees) and the reduction to 4 departments (retail sales, wholesale sales, purchasing, logistics).

For the distribution centers, only 3 sites: Barendrecht for retail, Bleiswijk for wholesale and Breda for some fruits like strawberries.

The Greenery has recorded losses in recent years (€ 4 million in 2011 and 2 million in 2012) and the figures for 2013 remain worrisome. But with this reorganization plan the group wants to focus on its core business, local production and marketing in the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom. Remain a major Dutch supplier of fruits and vegetables .
