Pomegranate season is in full swing

The Peruvian pomegranate campaign takes place from January to May, with the peak in March and April.

In January 2022, Peruvian exports of this fruit totaled 2.330.739 kilos, showing an increase of 117% compared to the 1.074.247 kilos exported in the same month of the previous year, according to the president of the consulting firm Inform@cción, Fernando Cilloniz Benavides.

As of February 14, 2022, shipments of fresh pomegranates reach 2.453.056 kilos and it is expected to close the month with supplies of close to 5.000.000 kilos, which would be 17% higher compared to the 4.279.406 kilos exported in February 2021.

It is worth mentioning that in 2021, Peruvian pomegranate exports reached 38.511.409 kilos for $80.392.622, according to Agrodata portal.
