Local products already meet almost 70% of Qatar's market needs

 

 

Arrayah newspaper quoted Qatari businessmen and investors as saying that the country could achieve self-sufficiency in the production of certain vegetables within 2 years. The blockade imposed on the country since June 2017 has reinforced the importance of local agricultural products.

 

 

 

Numerous investments and the use of the latest technical innovations have boosted production and will continue to improve it. Initiatives are multiplying to encourage and support local production whose volume has increased considerably. Locally grown vegetables currently meet about 60-70% of the country's needs and could cover up to 100% within 2 years.
