As part of the regional alert for TR4 (Fusarium Oxisporum TR4) recently detected in South America, the San Salvador International Airport has just set up a team of dogs to detect products of plant and animal origin in the luggage of passengers and aircrew.
San Óscar Arnulfo Romero airport, located 50 km from the capital San Salvador, has just set up a dog squad named Unidad K-9. These dogs patrol the airport in search of plant and animal products in the luggage of passengers and aircrew. To prevent the entry of any product that may contain spores or be contaminated with TR4.
This dog team is part of a set of surveillance measures launched by the Ministry of Agriculture to protect themselves from the arrival of all products imported from countries where banana disease is present. These dog teams could also be extended to the land and sea borders of the country.
