Doubling Bhuatan's Exports

Excellent performance of Bhutan citrus exports in 2014.

BEA (Bhutan Exporters Association ) announced that orange production reached 26,728 tons , more than double compared to 12,728 tonnes in 2013.This doubling of production also allowed almost doubling of export revenue : 10.4 million USD in 2014 against $ 5.6 million in 2013. Figures for exports to Bangladesh only.

The increase in production is attributed to a better policy to support farmers who have received various technical advice (plantations, orchards, crops ) . Furthermore, Bhutan's oranges being more organic than production in some countries , the demand increased and thus leads to a greater production .
