New greenhouse for growing lettuce and salad greens
This summer, Michigan’s Revolution Farms, lettuce and salad greens indoor farm, is expanding its operations with two new acres (0.810 hectare) of greenhouses space.
The company will use the latest agricultural technology, including a fully automated harvesting system, to growing fresh produce all year round. New technologies will also complement computerized climate control systems already on the farm.
87,000 square foot (8,082 square meters) greenhouse construction that started in February expected to be complete in July and will be fully operational by the end of the year, according to the release.
Located in the outskirts of Grand Rapids, USA the expansion will push to produce three times more fresh lettuce and greens per year.
John Green, co-founder and CEO of Revolution Farms commented: ‘New greenhouse gives us the ability to grow more of consumers’ favorite lettuces, such as romaine, also create indoor ecosystems to grow more varieties of leafy greens and herbs.”
