Peru banana exports rise 26% in value during first four months of 2026

Higher prices and stronger shipments to key European and North American markets support export growth early this year.
Peru exported 15,107 tonnes of bananas in April 2026, worth $13.69 million. Compared with April 2025, volume rose from 14,022 tonnes, while export value increased from $11.18 million, according to Agrodata.
From January to April 2026, shipments reached 57,770 tonnes for $51.73 million. That was a 12% increase in volume and a 26% rise in value year-on-year. The average price stood at $0.90/kg, up from $0.80/kg in the same period of 2025.
The Netherlands was the main destination, with $14.96 million and 17,492 tonnes, representing 28.9% of total export value. The United States followed with $7.73 million and 10,157 tonnes, or 14.9% of the total.
Other markets included Italy with $7.64 million, Panama with $6.55 million, Belgium with $4.73 million, South Korea with $2.53 million, the United Kingdom with $1.97 million, Japan with $1.67 million, Finland with $1.38 million and Sweden with $800,832.
