Exports of Turkish fruits and vegetables still up in March

This increase is mainly due to a dramatic increase in exports of fruit, 83%, vegetables, 20% despite a slight decrease in citrus exports by 4% in value.

The tomato is the star of exports and constitute 29% of total exports with 70% more exported. The most exported fruit is the apple, which passes about 1500 tons in March 2013 to 18,000 tons in March 2014.

The two most important importing countries are Russia and Iraq although with a drop of Russian imports of fruits (-31%), offset by a 29% increase in purchases of vegetables. They are followed by Ukraine and Romania. Germany is in 5th place, with a decrease in imports of 17% compared to March 2013.
