Catalytic Generators expands in Europe and prepares for 45th IFPA appearance

Following its participation at Fruit Attraction in Madrid, Catalytic Generators is looking to strengthen its position in the European market. The company, which has more than 50 years of experience in ethylene application for fruit ripening, is also preparing for its 45th appearance at the IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show.

New opportunities in Europe

At Fruit Attraction, Catalytic Generators met with existing customers and potential partners to discuss its ethylene application systems and opportunities for cooperation.

Greg Akins, President and CEO of Catalytic Generators, said the exhibition brought encouraging results. According to him, one European operator is already considering switching to the company's ethylene system next year, partly due to its planned wireless remote-monitoring features.

The company is currently active in Germany and the Netherlands and is expanding its distribution network in Italy through Brancato srl, a company experienced in ethylene-based fruit ripening.

Spain is another priority. Catalytic Generators is establishing contacts with local businesses and working to obtain the regulatory approvals needed to introduce its products to the Spanish market.

Akins explained that the company is approaching European expansion country by country, with an emphasis on local partnerships and meeting national regulatory requirements.

Preparing for IFPA in Orlando

Catalytic Generators will participate in the IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show on October 14–16, 2026, marking its 45th year as an exhibitor.

Akins noted that the event remains an important opportunity to meet the company's established North American customers while connecting with fresh produce businesses from other regions.

The exhibition also allows operators to discuss their specific ripening requirements directly with the company's specialists, including ethylene concentrations, ventilation and generator controls.

Ripening and quality control solutions

Catalytic Generators provides ethylene application systems for the controlled ripening and degreening of bananas, avocados, tomatoes, citrus, mangoes, stone fruit and other fresh produce.

Its product range includes ethylene generators and Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate, designed to deliver controlled ethylene production inside ripening rooms.

At IFPA, the company will exhibit alongside its sister company, QA Supplies, which offers quality-control instruments for the fresh produce industry. These include thermometers, data loggers, refractometers, fruit firmness testers and air and ethylene analyzers.

According to Akins, the two companies' solutions complement each other by helping operators manage ripening conditions and check fruit quality throughout the supply chain.

Visitors can meet Catalytic Generators and QA Supplies at booth #3235 at the IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando. Schedule your appointment today.
