Fruit Attraction 2026 generates €419 million for Madrid's economy

The trade fair has set new records, bringing together fresh produce professionals from more than 150 countries.
Fruit Attraction 2026 generated an estimated €419 million in economic activity in Madrid, up 3% compared with 2025. The trade fair also helped support 3,106 jobs in the region, according to figures released by the organisers, IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX, on October 8.
Record visitor numbers
This year's edition attracted more than 121,000 professionals from over 150 countries, setting a new attendance record.
October 7 was particularly busy, with more than 55,200 visitors attending the event in a single day. According to the organisers, this was the highest daily attendance ever recorded at a trade fair held at IFEMA MADRID.
Fruit Attraction 2026 brought together an estimated 2,500 exhibitors from 78 countries across 162,000 m² of exhibition space.
Spanish companies accounted for 51% of all exhibitors, with participation from every major fruit and vegetable producing region in the country.
Spain's fruit and vegetable industry
The figures also highlight the importance of the fresh produce industry to Spain's economy.
According to data from the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the country's fruit and vegetable sector was valued at more than €21.9 billion in 2025, accounting for 60% of final crop production value and 32% of total agricultural production value.
Spain produces approximately 24.64 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables annually, with nearly 60% of this volume destined for export.
Madrid's role in international trade
The organisers highlighted Fruit Attraction's growing contribution to Madrid's economy, particularly through international business activity and employment.
With record attendance and strong participation from both Spanish and international companies, the event continues to serve as a meeting point for producers, exporters, distributors and buyers from across the global fresh produce industry.
