Estimated drop of 5.8 million tonnes for world production of oranges.
Due to unfavorable weather conditions resulting in reduced harvests in Brazil, Egypt, the European Union and Morocco, world production of oranges for 2019/20 should drop by 5.8 million tonnes compared to the previous year to reach 47.5 million tonnes.
According to a report from USDA, the United States Department of Agriculture, world production of oranges is estimated at 47.5 million tonnes, down 5.8 million tonnes from the previous year.
In Brazil, production is expected to drop by 22% to around 15.1 million tonnes. In China, production should increase slightly to 7.3 million tonnes US production should increase by 1% to 4.9 million tonnes. In the European Union production is expected to fall by 10% to 5.8 million tonnes.
In Egypt, production is expected to decrease by 17% to 3.0 million tonnes. In South Africa production should increase by 4% to reach 1.6 million tonnes In Mexico production should remain at 4.4 million tonnes. In Morocco production is expected to drop 31% to 815,000 tonnes.
