Approval of the Spanish Government for the geographical expansion of D.O. Kaki Ribera del Xúquer. A confirmation of the EU is however pending.
Approval of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture for the expansion of the Protected Designation of Origin Kaki Ribera del Xúquer. Before that of the European Union which can provide the final confirmation.
D.O. Kaki Ribera del Xúquer, Protected Designation of Origin, could gain between 20% and 25% of production area by including "border" producers. Producers who are right next to the current official zone but whose production perfectly meets the qualitative and quantitative characteristics.
The majority of Kaki Ribera del Xúquer production (over 85%) is exported to the EU, particularly Germany, France and Italy. Recently also to Jordan and Saudi Arabia. During the previous season, exports totaled 137 000 tonnes in volume and 131.4 million in value terms.
