The development of agriculture is the main economic priority in Zimbabwe. Strong trade relations and agreements with partners can strengthen its economy and expand its businesses.
URALCHEM, PJSC Uralkali and the Republic of Zimbabwe signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 15 January 2019 in Moscow in the presence of the Presidents of Russia and Zimbabwe.
From Zimbabwe's point of view, its large national companies involved in the production of mineral fertilizers and agrochemicals, including the main state-owned company, Chemplex, want to establish trade relations with Russian partners in order to strengthen the country's economy and its development.
For URALCHEM and PJSC Uralkali, the supply of mineral fertilizers to African countries is one of the areas of strategic development on which they focus.
According to the agreement, URALCHEM, individually or jointly with PJSC Uralkali, will invest in one or more agricultural enterprises in Zimbabwe, in particular in the largest public company in the sector, the Chemplex group. The investments will be made by buying shares in the capital of various companies or by investing in fixed assets.
In addition, the document provides for the supply of nitrogen, potash and complex fertilizers to markets in Zimbabwe and other African countries.
