MACFRUT 2013 will open its doors

The opening of MACFRUT 2013 exhibition will take place tomorrow. 

Today the summit of pre-opening will have for theme the Kiwi. The following day many roundtables are planned particularly those organized by the CSO around the nuts and pomegranate.

The market of nuts is dominated by China which is the first world producer  (1 million tons), the United States (500,000 tons) hold the record for production per hectare (6 tons/ha). In Italy, the production is around 12-14 000 tons or 20% of the national demand estimated at about 50 000 tons. Necessary imports come from the United States, Chile, Argentina, Australia, France, Ukraine and Bulgaria. Increased consumer demand may induce farmers to seek new productive solutions.

The roundtable on the grenade will analyze the possibilities of development in Italy. The main producers are Israel, Spain and Morocco. The development of the demand may stimulate the interest of farmers in research of productive alternatives.
