A new episode of inflation on the price of onions

Onions, basic ingredients in Indian food , record a new spike in price.

In the state of Maharashtra, the largest onion market, the record fell in September 2013 : onion has traded 57Roupies / kg. In Mumbai, the price reached 70Roupies / kg in Delhi 65Roupies / kg.

A retail price of more than 100 Rupees / kg is predicted by the end of September, before the new harvest coming to the market .

The government has decided to import onions from Egypt and Afghanistan, but it will take time to roll back prices.
