A vertical farm to develop expertise and technologies

The city of Seoul , capital of South Korea , announced the construction of the first " vertical farm " in the country.

The " vertical farm " will be located in the district of Yangcheon in a 3- story building. The designers plan to use the first floor as a site for training and the 2nd and 3rd floors for growing leafy vegetables and other plants.

Until then , major installation costs have discouraged potential investors. This is the first " vertical farm " installed in South Korea with the aim of developing the necessary technology and expertise in the field .

They have taken example on Japan where large companies (Toshiba , Panasonic, Hitachi , Fujitsu, Sharp) invest in " vertical farms "  .
