Good performance for US potato exports

Another positive quarter for US potato exports which increased in volume in the 'fresh' and 'frozen' segments (Photo: potatoesusa).
American potato exports continued their upward trend during the 3rd quarter of 2021. Frozen products hold the best performance with + 30% and + 63% for the Mexican market and + 52% for the Canadian market. Fresh potatoes show + 16%.
Potatoes USA has released its figures for US potato exports for the 3rd quarter of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020.
.Fresh potatoes, comprising both table and processing potatoes, the volume exported is up 16%. Growth varies by country, with + 31% for Canada, with + 26% for Mexico, with + 29% for Central America and + 321% for the Dominican Republic, with + 86% for South Korea and + 54% for Japan.
Frozen potato products show a volume increase of + 30%. With in particular + 63% for Mexico, + 52% for Canada, + 55% for Central America, + 28% for China, + 176% for the Philippines and + 14% for Japan.
Dehydrated potatoes are the only segment that is performing poorly. All Asian markets, except South Korea with + 59%, are down, like Japan with -24%. Other important markets also in decline: Mexico with -7% and Canada with -10%.
