Production and organic market growth

In Switzerland, the organic sector is doing well : increase in surfaces and  record of sales. 

According to figures published by Bio Suisse, the cultivated organic area increased by 5,000 hectares and the number of Bourgeon producers (brand Bio Suisse) increased, reaching 5,884 producers. Organic farming represents 11.8% of total of Swiss agricultural enterprises.

The organic market has also increased significantly. The overall turnover of organic products has passed for the first time the 2 billion Swiss francs (1.6 billion euros). Registered annual growth totaled 223 million francs (182 million euros), an increase of +12.1%.
