Thailand's fruit season concludes on a high note, boosted by rising prices and export growth

Prices for Thai fruits such as durian, mangosteen, and mango are rising as the harvest season comes to an end, driven by strong export demand.
The price of durian, mangosteen, rambutan, longkong, and mango from Thailand has significantly increased as the country's fruit season draws to a close. Eastern regions reported strong price trends as their season ended, while the south is nearing its conclusion, having harvested nearly all its durian. The north has also closed its mango season.
From January to August, Thailand exported 1.4 million tons of fresh fruit, worth 150 billion THB ($4.45 billion). Mainland China remains the primary market, driven by growing demand. Exports to South Korea, Hong Kong, and Malaysia have also increased.
Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan attributes this positive trend to the 2024 fruit management plan, which includes six key measures and 25 initiatives aimed at expanding domestic markets, boosting new export channels, and promoting the processing of value-added fruit.
