Peruvian grape exports to Ecuador were suspended from the 2015-2016 season.
Peru will resume grape exports to the Ecuadorian market following the signing of an agreement between the National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa) and the Ecuadorian Phytosanitary and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control Agency (Agrocalidad). This agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting held in the Tumbes region.
Thanks to this agreement, Peru, recognized as one of the world's leading producers and exporters of grapes, will be able to restart shipments of this fruit to Ecuador, a market with approximately 18 million potential consumers.
The treaty reactivates the phytosanitary conditions necessary for the export of table grapes to Ecuador, which will strengthen trade between the two neighboring nations, benefiting Peruvian producers and boosting the agro-export chain.
It's worth noting that grape exports to Ecuador have been suspended since the 2015-2016 season, when 7,130.65 tons were shipped.
