New trade talks open path for Tucumán lemons via Adriatic port

Officials from Argentina and Croatia explore new channels for international cooperation and logistics development.
Rijeka, located on the northern Adriatic coast. The idea was discussed during a recent meeting between Governor Osvaldo Jaldo and Croatian ambassador Duška Paravić.
The plan aims to reduce reliance on overcrowded ports such as Rotterdam (Netherlands) and Algeciras (southern Spain). Officials say Rijeka offers a deeper draught and enough capacity to handle large volumes of citrus exports.
With over one million tonnes of lemons produced annually, Tucumán is a major player in Argentina’s citrus industry. Using the port of Rijeka could open up more efficient access to Eastern European markets, and the proposal will soon be reviewed by local trade chambers and the provincial industrial union.
