Ahold sells Brazilian chain to Wal-Mart

Troubled Dutch retailer Ahold has sold its Brazilian supermarket chain Bompreco to Wal-Mart.
The deal involves 118 Bompreco stores in north-eastern Brazil.
At the same time, Ahold has sold its credit card operation Hipercard to Unibanco.
The combined value of the transactions is around US$500 million.
