Contaminated potatoes and mandarins were delivered to Russia
130 tons of potatoes were delivered to Russia from Libya in April 2014. According to the quarantine inspection results, all the vegetables were contaminated with Phthorimaea operculella Zell.
At the very same day, 23 tons of mandarins delivered from Egypt were inspected by local Quarantine Service. As a result Ceratitis capitata Wied was detected in all the samples taken for expertise.
Information regarding blocked deliveries from Libya and Egypt was directed to Federal Service of Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance for the appropriate measures to be taken.
