Aid for producers of bergamot and essential oil of bergamot in Italy

The European Commission has approved a EUR 6,200,000 aid scheme for producers of bergamot and oil of bergamot in Calabria, Italy. The approval is nevertheless subject to compliance with a number of conditions (technical adjustments to the rules on state aid), which the Italian authorities will have to meet within two months from the date of notification of the decision. The measures provided for by the scheme cover investment in holdings which produce bergamot and in processing and marketing units, start-up aid for producer groups, research work, dissemination of information, the introduction of product quality-control systems and advertising campaigns.
