Argentina apples exports in Russia fell by 20% compared to the previous year.

The export volume of Argentina apples in Russia is at its lowest level.

Russia produced 825,600 tons of apples in 2013 (960 000 tonnes in 2012) for a domestic demand of 1.54 million tons. The imports are therefore important, However it is the apple that has experienced the largest increase (+11%) among the imports.

For the 2012-2013 season, Argentina exported only 28,000 tons of apples in Russia, 20% less than the previous year, the lowest level in five years.

Experts explain this drop in several ways: the price of apples from Argentina have increased by 100% since 2007, while the world price of fruit rose only between 35% and 50%. Then, transport times are more important than for European apples. Half of the volume of imports from from elsewhere of Poland.
