Probable growth of 5% for Egyptian exports

Export volumes increase with the opening of new markets and the expansion of shipments to other African countries.
The target of a 5% increase set at the beginning of the year by AEC (Agriculture Export Council) for Egyptian exports will probably be realized.
FAC had estimated that exports of the agricultural sector could reach 2.26 billion USD in 2017 (2.46 billion USD in 2016). Arab markets account for 50% of Egyptian agricultural exports, 40% for European Union markets, and the balance for other countries.
The recent opening of certain markets (China which has just agreed to import Egyptian grapes) and the expansion of shipments to other African countries will encourage export growth. Egypt's geographical proximity to these target markets has advantages (freshness, transport costs) that are decisive in increasing exported volumes.
