The Eurocastanea Meetings will celebrate their 10th anniversary in Portugal

Annual reference point for actors in the European chestnut sector (agents, processors, producers, resellers) and itinerant event, the European Meeting of the Chestnut will celebrate their 10 years in Portugal.

 

 

 

Year after year, Spain, Portugal, France and Italy have hosted this traveling event. In 2009, the 1st edition was organized in Orense (Spain). The event started with an informal meeting of a group of industry experts, to arrive at the European Network of Chestnut, called EuroCastanea, whose voice today has a significant weight in the whole continent.

 

 

 

The last cities in Portugal hosting the Chestnut Encounters were Bragança in 2010 and Vila Pouca de Aguiar and Valpaços in 2015. In 2019, Eurocastanea returns to Portugal, this time to Trancoso and Penedono. These two areas include the largest producers of chestnuts of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) "Soutos da Lapa".

 

 

 

Eurocastanea 2019 will take place on 12 and 13 September. The event offers a program combining lectures and technical visits, meeting current priorities, while advancing research and innovation in the sector.
