15.6% increase in exotic fruit exports between January and April 2022

Between January and April 2022, exports of exotic fruits by Colombia totaled $42.4 million, an increase of 15.6% compared to the same period last year. The main destination was the Netherlands with sales of around $35.5 million.
According to data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane), revenue from gulupa exports between January and April 2022 totaled $21.8 million, which means an increase of 21.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, and what makes it the most popular Colombian exotic fruit abroad.
Cape gooseberry follows, with a total of $15.8 million, $2.2 million more than in the same period in 2021.
Shipments of cherimoya and soursop went from $94.265 in 2021 to $182.963 in the same period from January to April 2022 (+94.1%).
However, granadilla exports fell from $2.8 million in the same period of 2021 to $2.5 million in 2022 (-9.4%).
According to local producers, this decrease is due to the intense rains that affected the quality of the fruit and its export.
Exports of maracuya fell -7.7%, as well as of tamarillo (-13.8%), curuba (-13.15%) pitaya (-0.1%), and lulo (-42.6%).
