FEDEMCO held its third conference

Industry professionals wooden boxes, packaging and pallets and their components, attended the third conference FEDEMCO (the Spanish Federation of wooden packaging).

Organized in collaboration with the Institute of AIDIMA technology, this conference had as theme the regulation ISPM-15; its impact on forest health, the means to be in compliance and technologies implemented.

ISPM-15 regulation was adopted in the context of the use of wood packaging in exports and imports, as a precautionary measure to protect the health of forests.

Procedures, independent control organizations, laboratories, verification mechanisms of treatment were described and explained. As well as a method called ESR (Electron Spin Resonance, "Electron Spin Resonance"), approached as potential new method to detect treatment.

Fernando Trenor, director of FEDEMCO, presneted a final report. In Spain, the improvment of controls and the effectiveness of treatments have allowed to achieve the number of 1000 companies operating in accordance with international phytosanitary regulations.
