Berries have become the most popular fruits

With 18.4% of the UK market, berries have exceeded apples and are at the first place of the most popular fruits.

 
Over the past 12 months, sales of berries have  increased by 13.3% and now represent 18.4% of the UK market. Apples are classified in second position with 18%, citrus is third with 14.8%.

 
Health benefits have described blueberries as "superfood". The demand has increased dramatically and has led to the expansion of crop areas in Great Britain.

 
Another explanation: berries are still affordable for most families and unlike many other fruits are easy to handle and eat by adults as by children.
