Two of California's top stonefruit firms are forming a strategic alliance for the 2008 season.
Ballantine Produce will take over the farming and management of P-R Farm's stonefruit production so the latter can focus on almonds.
"This business opportunity will enhance our ability to focus on the advancement of our almond growing, hulling, shelling and packing operation," said Patrick Ricchiuti, president of P-R Farms.
"In addition, we will continue to increase crop diversification favourable to market demands while furthering our family's involvement in land development," he added.
David Albertson, principal of Ballantine, added: "We are proud to be able to provide the stewardship to preserve and grow the value of the significant tree fruit farming tradition of the Ricchiuti family."
