PE | Agraya GmbH
Technology and AI generated considerable discussion throughout last Agraya Summit 2026, celebrated last week in Bologna.
Day 2 morning panel discussion of the Summit 2026 of Agraya organization was dedicated to “The future of assurance: how is tech-enabled auditing evolving and how can it be applied at scale”. The panel experts were Daniel Link the new COO of Agraya, Emanuele Riva the vice chair of Global ACI, the global accreditation corporation. Nico Broersen, CEO of Simvia, a compliance platform for safe & responsible supply chains, also Katharina Grieshaber, project manager at INTACT auditory platform. They explored how digitalization could make auditing more efficient, reduce duplication, and improve the use of verified data across supply chains. The final goal is to better support agricultural production and assurance.
Towards more risk-based approaches
Panelists discussed a shift from scheduled audits toward more risk-based approaches, where reliable data could help identify areas requiring greater attention. AI could also support auditors by identifying patterns, highlighting potential risks, and reducing time spent on documentation, allowing more focus on assessments and direct engagement with producers.
Personal assessments remain essential
However, the discussion also highlighted the importance of data quality, interoperability, and human oversight. While technology can support more efficient assurance processes, the panel emphasized that professional judgment and on-site assessments remain essential to maintaining trust and credibility. All participants agreed that the major progress with auditing could be achieved if all the standards will start working from 1 single record. Data confidentiality is the major barrier from created one shared data record for farm auditing.
