Bramley sizes up and down

This year’s Bramley crop is expected to weigh in at 51,000 tons, roughly the same volume as last year's, despite a smaller average size profile.
The unpredictable weather in the last couple of months has slowed growth patterns.
However, English Apples & Pears chief executive told FPJ that the cooking apple crop could still be lower than the latest official figure, released by EAP last week. “At this stage, the size of some of the fruit is obviously indeterminable and I would not be surprised if we see a five per cent drop on this estimate to somewhere in the region of 48,000t,” he said.
